How to Navigate the SEC Filings

Below are the steps to navigate to the SEC Filings repository:

  1. Access the Public Documents Icon: Click on Public Documents in the left-hand navigation panel.

  2. Switch to SEC Filings Tab:

    • At the top of the interface, select the SEC Filings tab.

    • This will display all available SEC filings in a clear table format, as seen in the image.

  3. The document list is displayed in a table format. Each row represents a document with the following columns:

    • Doc Name: The name of the document (e.g., 10-Q, 10-K).

    • Doc Type: The type of document, such as quarterly (10-Q) or annual (10-K) filings.

    • Company Name: The name of the company that submitted the filing.

    • Ticker: The stock ticker symbol for the company.

    • Year: The filing year.

    • Period Ending/Quarter: The period covered by the filing.

    • Filing Date: The date the document was filed with the SEC.

    • Sector: The broad category of the company's industry (e.g., Technology, Consumer Cyclical).

    • Industry: The specific industry within the sector (e.g., Software - Infrastructure, Apparel Retail).

    • Sub Industry: Further classification of the company's industry (e.g., Services-Prepackaged Software, Retail-Family Clothing).

4. Browse or Search Documents: Use the search bar to find specific filings or scroll through the list for a broader view. Click on a document name to open and analyze it further.


Using the Search Bar in SEC Filings

The Search Bar in the Public Documents module allows you to quickly locate specific documents by searching based on various metadata, such as Doc Name, Doc Type, Company Name, Ticker, or other relevant fields.

Steps to Use the Search Bar:

  1. The search bar is positioned at the top right of the document repository.

  2. You can type in specific keywords related to the document you’re looking for, such as- Document Name, Doc Type, Company Name, Ticker, Year, Filing Date, Period Ending/Quarter etc.

  3. As you type, the list of documents will automatically narrow down, showing only those that match the search criteria you’ve entered.

  4. You can further refine your search by combining metadata or specific terms to locate exactly the document you need within the repository.
